Commentary 1 Reflection

 Weakness:

- The introduction paragraph is something that I need to work on. In my commentary, I wrote the introduction paragraph as if it was another body paragraph, but it shouldn’t be like that. I now have realized that an introduction paragraph needs to be brief, and concise. It should have the name of the song, the name of the artist, and the tone of the song. Afterwards, you talk about the thesis statement. The thesis statement talks about what the song is about, and its main meaning. Now that I have learned this I think I can improve a lot in Criterion B, and so improve my overall performance in the commentary.

- The incorporation of quotes is something that I need to improve on. Most of my quotes weren’t inserted in the correct time and place of the paragraph, and so they didn’t go smoothly with the commentary, the quotes looked as if they were put by force.

- Another thing I need to work on is on the development of the analysis of the song. I say this because I showed that I knew what the lyrics were about, but I didn’t analyze them in depth. I think that if I end up analyzing in depth my Crit.A will improve a lot since the content of my commentary will be bigger and richer in information.

- Moreover I also need to work in the explaining of the writing devices used. This happened because I didn’t explain so well what literally devices were used in the song, and I just limited myself by saying metaphors and similes. But I should have pushed myself more and talk about alliteration, connotation, hyperbole, etc. I think that by not saying this I lowered my grade a lot, especially in Crit.C, but if I talk about these elements I think that my grade will improve a lot.

- My grammar wasn’t so accurate throughout my commentary, and so that also lowered my grade in Crit. C. The grammar in some words, and the punctuation really influenced in my writing, and I need to improve on this.

Strengths

- A thing I did well was in the content of my commentary. I did analyze the song, and I showed that I understood it, and I at time sustained it accurately with quotes. But, as I said before, I didn’t go on depth, so my grade didn’t reach the top levels.
