Frank Sinatra

That's life, that's what people say.
You're riding high in April,
Shot down in May.
But I know I'm gonna change their tune,
When I'm right back on top in June.

That's life, funny as it seems.
Some people get their kicks,
Steppin' on dreams
But I just can't let it get me down,
Cause this big old world keeps spinnin' around.

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
A poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
But I know one thing:
Each time I find myself flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race.

“That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra starts with an impassioned tone. When this song plays and it reaches its climax, we see that Frank is reflecting on how life has various ups and downs. Its main purpose is to tell us how life can be wonderful at some points but in other occasions it may be as horrible as a bird with no wings.

This song has a very profound meaning. During the song we can see that Frank Sinatra wants to show us that life is good and bad, you have good days and bad days, and that you must continue on, since, life is like that. We can see this because in the first verse he says:  You're riding high in April, shot down in May”. What this means is that you may be very wealthy, and think you have your life settled, but in an instant, that may just go away and could become poor again. Furthermore, the sentence “I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king” shows us that you may be a lot of things in life, for good or for bad, but in the end that is how life has treated you. So this song speaks about how life may be like a roller coaster, and that that is just a thing of living in this world.
